Jimi the last day 17/09/1970

Today is the anniversary of Jimi Hendrix last day on earth. What a tragic night it was. He does look tired and worn out and even somewhat sad in this picture taken by Monika Dannemen who took a series of photos of him in the garden behind her apartment in London this morning 43 years ago today. This rare image marks the last photo ever made of Jimi Hendrix.

The extremely sensitive Hendrix was unraveling under an unprecedented amount of personal and professional stress and was particularly vulnerable to negative elements during these two weeks in London. Hendrix spoke of suicide and death frequently during this period. He was essentially surrounded by sharks and sycophants and had no real support network to help him through this rough time in his life.

On the night of his death, he had a bad argument with his German girlfriend, Monika Dannemann, that was recounted by several witnesses. Sometime after retiring, Hendrix apparently took a deliberate overdose of extremely-powerful sleeping tablets. Dannemann, for whatever reason (anger/vengeance is implied) seems to have poured wine down his throat as he lay choking on his vomit.

The coroner recorded an "open verdict," since a verdict of suicide would have invalidated the million-dollar insurance policies held on Hendrix by his manager and record company (evidently standard practice in the music business). Thus, Hendrix's suicide has gone down in history as an "accidental overdose."

Fast forward to 1996, Dannemann committed suicide when her version of events was blown apart in a court case brought by another of Hendrix's ex-girlfriends, Kathy Etchingham.

RIP Jimi. You were and remain my biggest influence as a guitarist and writer.

Valentino Rossi buys a Harley Davidson!

Valentino Rossi must be ready for the nut house. First he signs with Ducati, then goes back to Yamaha, and now he buys a Harley? Well, yes he did, but not just any Harley. During his Indianapolis weekend, Rossi spent some time with the seven-time winner of the AMA Flat Track Grand National Championship Chris Carr and left with a little present for himself. The present – the most successful flat track race bike in history of the sport, the weapon of choice of almost every GNC champion for the last forty years, the one and only Harley Davidson XR750.

Rossi, a great flat track fan, rides his own European flat trackers such as Zaeta on his private track in Italy, but now obviously wanted some of the real American iron. Interestingly enough, Harley has been untouchable on the top podiums for decades, in spite of sporadic coup efforts by Honda, Ducati or some other manufacturer. Come on Valentino, we’re eager for a video!

10 Reasons Why You’re Losing Your Facebook Fans

10 ways to turn off your fans on Facebook

I know there are thousands of bands who are doing things right, winning new fans with engaging posts and videos (and I don’t really mean to suggest that YOU aren’t one of ‘em). But if your Facebook fan interaction is on the decline, you might be guilty of one or more of the following social media sins:

1. Multiple bands creating separate events for a single show

If I had a dollar for every time I’ve received separate event invites from every band on a bill, I’d probably have enough to buy that sweet parlor guitar I’ve had my eye on for a while. No, it’s not the end of the world– none of these “Facebook crimes” will spell the end for you– but it’s just… annoying. Put 5 minutes of forethought into your show promotion, coordinate with all the bands, and create ONE event that each of you can promote and share. Plus, it’ll look better when everyone is RSVPing in one place!

2. Constantly asking for people to vote for you

Contrary to what shows like American Idol and The Voice may tell you, music isn’t a competition. Sure, you can take your career to new places and get your fans engaged with the occasional songwriting, performance, or fan-voting contest, but stop entering every damn one you come across. It looks a little desperate.

3. Leaving your facebook page half-completed

Did you get all excited about Facebook at some point and then abandon it? Is it hard to tell from your page if you actually exist as a band anymore? If so, either complete the missing info and post some new content, or de-activate your page. It looks unprofessional.

4. Posting your stream of consciousness updates every 20 minutes

If you’re posting more than a few times a day, it better be good stuff! Don’t use your Facebook band page as your personal profile. The few folks who might care what you’re up to every day will stop caring quick.

5. Incessant negativity

Every once in a while it’s ok to be honest and vulnerable on Facebook. You can vent your frustrations from time to time. But keep those kinds of posts as the exception. Bitching, whining, sour grapes, jealousy, and putting other bands down– no one needs a daily dose of that.

6. SHOUTING IN ALL CAPS!!!!

OK. WE GET IT!!!!! You have something really important to tell us. May I suggest instead you choose from the following list of words: excited, thrilled, stoked, psyched, amped, beside-ourselves, overjoyed, blitzed, inspired, amazed, flushed, or atingle?

7. Posting crappy photos that don’t even feature the band members

Oh, great. Another highly pixelated image of… what is that? A pint glass next to a taco wrapper? Next!

8. Requiring someone to do something before they can hear your music

People don’t like to jump through hoops. Let fans listen to your music right away– even if it’s only a couple tracks!

9. Advertising by posting on someone else’s wall

Remember MySpace? This is the kinda nonsense that would happen on MySpace all the time– and why people stopped using it. Do NOT put your marketing messages on other people’s Facebook walls. That is what YOUR wall is for.

10. Begging for “likes”

It’s probably OK once or twice a year to ask your friends on Facebook to “like” your band page. Don’t make a weekly habit of the practice, though. Your band page won’t get “liked,” and you might just get de-friended.

I’m sure I forgot a few good examples of bad Facebook practices. What annoys you on Facebook?

11 Animals More Likely To Kill You Than Sharks

Mosquitoes

655,000 people killed each year, primarily in Africa, through the little buggers spreading malaria left and right.

Hippos

2,900 people are killed by these moody mammals annually in Africa. That rolley-polley exterior is just to lure you in.

Deer

130 people killed across the US by deer, almost exclusively because they hit them with their cars. That saying, "a deer in the headlights" came about for a reason.

Bees

53 people die each year in the US because of an allergic reaction from being stung.

Dogs

30-35 people are killed each year in the US. Fido isn't always your best friend.

Ants

20-50 people are killed each year in Africa from ants. They may be small but dozens, hundreds, even thousands stinging you really adds up.

Jellyfish

20-40 people per year die in the Philippines alone, from the anaphylaxis caused by the stings.

Cows

22 people are killed in the US every year from these seemingly docile creatures. They're fun to pet, but getting kicked in the head... not as fun.

Horses

20 people die each year thanks to our equine friends.

Spiders

6.5 people die in the US every year from spider bites.

Rattlesnakes

5.5 people die from rattlesnake bites each year in the US, which isn't a whole lot considering how common they are in popular hiking and camping areas.

Sharks

1 person is killed each year in the US and fewer than 6 worldwide are killed by sharks. From 2006 to 2010, there were just three fatalities from shark attacks in the US.
Just some facts you might want to know!

Sacred Knowledge Of Vibration And The Power Of Human Emotions

 WHAT IS THE UNIVERSAL TRUTH?

Why has this universal truth been hidden from the beings on this planet?

This is the biggest mystery. For over 25,000 years the Universal Truth was not available to the people of this planetary system. It is now finally being received on this planet. Deep seekers of the truth that are open minded and ready will receive it. The higher energies of 2012 and beyond have had a two fold effect. We have been stuck in a Universal Time Matrix System that has been disconnected from the higher dimension frequencies for thousands of years.

Ancient Earth history shows manipulations of the planetary grids by beings from other more advanced systems (Draco-Orion, Sirius, Pleiades). The Universal Time Matrix system we are in is being manipulated. The energies of 2012 and beyond are opportunities for faster ascension and manipulation into restriction of ascension.

Higher frequency energies being transmitted by the forces of light onto this planet allow individuals that are open to receive (through opening their beliefs and mindset) to activate their higher Chakras (7 to 15), which opens their central channels (Universal Kundalini), raise their frequency and DNA since December 2012.

These activation's help bypass the restriction programs being activated on this planet. The restriction program energies were activated in March 2011 (force field of energy that restricts human ascension process) and went full force in December 2012.

Those that did not raise their frequencies will fall into these energies and will not be able to ascend to the higher dimensions (beyond dimension 11.5). The DNA of most people on this planet has already been mutated. That is why only 3-5 DNA strands are active instead of the 12-48 DNA strands (which used to be the norm for angelic human race).

This is hard to believe. There is a lot going on in this planetary system that people are not being made aware of.

IT IS TIME TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE THE HIGHER TRUTH OF WHAT IS GOING ON.

Biltwell EZXL Sportster

Biltwell EZXL Sportster
Harley Sportster 1200 by Biltwell

A few weeks ago, I stumbled across some murky shots of this Harley Sportster in a workshop. It was one of the cleanest, classiest Sportsters I’ve ever seen, with beautiful paint and a perfect stance. I found out that it was owned by Bill Bryant, the driving force behind Biltwell Inc. And luckily for us, Bill’s now had it shot properly so we can take a closer look.

“The bike started life as a homely 1999 Sportster 1200 without much ‘Sport’ in it,” says Bill. So he decided to take off as much as possible, and put back only what was necessary.

Every bit of wiring was gutted, simplified and rerouted. On went a new ignition, cut-down mufflers, black wrinkle coat powder on the outer covers, and polished mags. “I made a couple of simple bits like the headlight, coil and plate mounts,” says Bill, “and shaved the fender tabs off the fork legs. But there’s no major fabrication anywhere.” (Hence the name, ‘EZXL’.)

Instead, Bill fitted a multitude of well-chosen Biltwell parts: pegs, the carb top, tail light, riser, bars, throttle and grips. The air cleaner is from BCM, and the stainless rear loop was made by Wompy at Still Kickin’. The seat is a modified Biltwell foam and pan combo.

After fitting some Progressive Suspension 970 shocks and stiffer fork springs up front, the bike turned out to be a blast on local fire roads. Bill even raced it in the Hell On Wheels rally. “I only low-sided once. I went home tired, filthy and totally satisfied,” he says.
